High-resolution uterine cavity assessment that finds what routine scans miss.
Many uterine conditions — septate uterus, T-shaped (dysmorphic) uterus, intracavitary fibroids, polyps, and adhesions — directly affect implantation and pregnancy outcomes. A standard 2D ultrasound shows two planes; 3D adds the coronal view, which is essential to evaluate the cavity shape accurately.
Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS) gently distends the uterine cavity with a small volume of sterile saline through a thin catheter while we scan. The fluid outlines polyps, submucous fibroids, adhesions, and subtle wall irregularities.
SIS is a brief, in-office procedure. Mild cramping is possible but well tolerated by most patients. We discuss every step before starting.
